Welcome to the world, Little Lola

Lola Ford Mayer arrived October 25 (which happens to be Stacy's parents' anniversary) and was 8 pounds, 7 ounces and 20 inches long. Janie, Dave & Chloe Mayer were our very first diners the night we opened to "practice" service with our friends, and Chloe's pizza pan was the first one to be hung on our walls. Since then, little Lola has enjoyed our pizza quite a few times thanks to her Mommy and we hear it may have been Janie's last meal before giving birth. She is gorgeous just like her mom and big sister. We are so thrilled for the Mayers and can't wait to see Baby Lola at Pizza by the Sea!!!

We heart realtors

Many of you know that in addition to the multitude of "hats" Bryan wears as the fearless leader of our businesses, he is also a realtor for Davis Properties. We understand and appreciate how hard our realtor friends are working during this crazy market and we'd like to help lighten your financial load. Therefore, through the end of the year, we are offering a 20% ECAR REALTOR DISCOUNT. When you visit Pizza by the Sea, just show your business card to receive 20% off almost anything at any time -- even beer and wine! The only exclusion is the lunch buffet, and the discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other specials. Speaking of realtors, congratulations to Bobby Johnson and John David Sullivan on your recent closings.

Spicing things up

We had a great crowd last night including one of 30A's finest chefs. There were kids everywhere drawing sidewalk chalk masterpieces, skateboarding and hula hooping. We debuted the spicy buffalo chicken pizza to rave reviews and are looking for the perfect name for the newest addition to our menu. If you have ideas, please post a comment below. The latest creation includes buffalo chicken, buffalo wing sauce, jalapenos and blue cheese. Some of the great names submitted thus far include Ron's "Hot Blue Goose," Greg's "Kickin Chickalo with a Blue Dress On" and Kate's "Deliciosso-Bellisimo" (Teressa Bellisimo is said to have invented Buffalo Wings). We can't let this day pass without wishing a very happy birthday to JD Johnson, our VERY first customer at Movies by the Sea and an opening night diner at Pizza by the Sea. We're proud to be your friends, JD.

See and be seen

Well, it seems my sweet friend and brilliant photographer, Marla Carter, has issued a challenge to me on HER blog. I've given her a hard time about not updating her content often enough, so now she is going to ensure I keep up with this one. So here goes...

We strive to provide a relaxed atmosphere where friends and new friends can gather. The weather is growing nicer by the day, and our patio has become a great spot to people watch. Thus, I'll introduce a new segment we'll call "See and Be Seen" (SABS). Who chose to SABS at Pizza by the Sea recently? Some of the families included the Zeitlins, Pickrens, Johnsons, the other Johnsons AND the Johnstons, the Losees, Mayers, Sullivans, Weiners, Millers, Schnells, Barretts, Palmers, Bonjeans, Davis', Bradleys, Frohsins, Chicks, Myers', Vogts, Ratcliffs, Lischkas, Richardsons, Hirschmans, Roberts', Conleys, DeGregorios, Ellis' and Mike Senior, who watched Rugby while munching on the lunch buffet! There was a group of dads, including Ron Romano, Scott Cobine, Brad Beauchamp and Wade Squiers, who dined with their kiddos while the moms took a cooking class. And last but CERTAINLY not least was the aformentioned Marla, whose table overflowed with talent including her husband Shane and famed Dallas photographer Ruth Williams.

Incidentally, Marla is responsible for all of the gorgeous photos displayed at Pizza by the Sea. And since she urged her blog visitors to keep me on my toes, why don't all you pizza lovers help me do the same by bookmarking her blog and visiting it frequently? Until next time, this one's for you, Marla...
