"L" is for Locals
It was a great night to catch up with locals at the pizza place. John David gave rides on his cool new space mobile, JD cared for his "virtual" baby and all the kids were abuzz about school starting.

Funky Friday
What a great show! Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster performed in WaterColor Friday night. We had friends in town from Big D, and this was the perfect setting for adults and kids to get jiggy. Our little dancing queen was quite fond of the limelight and even participated in the dance contest on stage. We spotted lots of our customers {Chris Pickren, Tommy Brantley and Cole Taylor's cotumes were priceless!} and even got to see some of our favorite employees dancing onstage between sets. I guess I am officially OLD as I didn't know any of the "routines." The last time I remember lining up like they were was for the Mararena!!

Hero
Most moms think taking care of a newborn is hard, but imagine doing it while the new baby's daddy is in Iraq! Our friend Vanessa in Texas just gave birth to little Evalyn, and while her husband was able to come home for the birth, he is now back in the Middle East bravely representing our country. Congratulations to this sweet family and thank you Eder for putting your life on the line to help others. You are a true hero.

Hot Mama
I told you Michelle would be super skinny post baby {she's the one on the left beside equally beautiful Lauren}. We were thrilled to see the Wiggins family at the pizza place last night with their newest baby boy, Lars. {Shameless plug: Buy the cool brown & blue blanket at Movies by the Sea.}

Pause from the craziness of life to appreciate life
Life can be quite hectic with two businesses, an energetic two-year-old, family responsibilities and the challenge of balancing it all. However, something can stop us in our tracks to remind us how blessed we are to have our loved ones. You may have heard the story of Stephen Curtis Chapman's daughter Maria, who was recently killed in a tragic accident. The family has chosen to share the story publicly, and their faith amidst tremendous sadness is inspiring. Please take a few minutes to watch the interviews on ABC or Larry King -- or at the very least, go hug the people you love.

Not your average grandparents
Our little one is spending the week getting spoiled rotten by her Nana & Gaga who are here for a visit. These grandparents neither look nor act their age. They climb up, down and through every contraption in playgrounds, participate in hula hoop contests and teach soccer lessons {in Target!}. This week has been loaded with presents and sugar, but our daughter is in heaven. Until we can convince them to retire and move here, we'll just have to soak up every second of their visits.

By George, they've got it!
We're so excited about another new business in town that we've eaten there 3 times in 2 weeks! Friends Ann & George Hartley {owners of Seagrove Village Market} just opened George's at Alys Beach, and it is soooo fabulous. The decor indoors is crisp and modern, and the outdoor seating is comfortable and cool. We love dining on the screened porch! A big bonus for parents is the grassy area with giant lily pads to entertain the kiddos. The menu features "Behave" & "Misbehave" categories, so you can choose to eat healthy or blow the diet. Our favorites thus far are Senora Anna's Fish Tacos and the Ginger Chicken. Read more about George's on SowalScene. Congratulations, Ann & George!!

The Blue Giraffe
The Blue Giraffe has arrived in WaterColor, thanks to Michelle Myers, who also owns the Blue Mountain Beach location. We were getting our morning fix at Starbucks and decided to check it out. The colorful interior and eclectic merchandise is so inviting. You will love her line of vintage wood mirrors and frames. She also carries art, jewelry, furniture and so much more. The outdoor swing passed the toddler fun test as did the Blue Giraffe's mascot. Michelle's new shop is located in the former Michael Belk spot on 30A, two doors to the right of Starbucks. Now go grab a latte and get shopping!
